Digital Trunks transport both voice and data traffic utilizing a dedicated DS1 between ICG's switch and the customer's premise equipment. The customer purchases a minimum of 24 channels, configured as Direct Inward Dialing (DID), Direct Outward Dialing (DOD), or Two-Way service with or without DID/DOD. Hunting is a standard feature and DID Number Blocks, Three-way Calling and Call Transfer are optional features.


3-Way Call and Call Transfer

Call transfer allows a station user to transfer any established call to another station outside the PBX or business group without the assistance of the company's operator or attendant, allowing the user to hit flash and add on another party, not hang up and be on a three-way call. These features are available only on Digital 2-way trunks and Digital DID/DOD trunks and are assigned at the Trunk Group Number level. Customers will need to ensure that their customer premise equipment is able to generate a "flash" signal to the ICG 5E switch in order for the feature to work.

Expanded Originating Service (EOS): Available with inbound DS0's only

An inbound Foreign Exchange-like digital dial tone service, using a DS1 transmission facility for delivery. EOS consists of two parts:

* ICG provides phone numbers (NPA-NXX's) for multiple calling areas with in a switch service area. The customer may purchase phone numbers from calling areas within the LATA as the physical customer's premises, or outside of the LATA that ICG has designated for this feature.
* EOS also includes the ability to aggregate traffic from multiple calling areas within an ICG switch serving area. The aggregation of traffic from multiple calling areas may take place within the same LATA that ICG has designed for this feature. Traffic from multiple switch serving areas may not be aggregated within the same DIGITAL TRUNK Serving Arrangement. Separate DIGITAL TRUNK Serving Arrangements must be purchased per ICG switch.

Limitations

Traffic from calling areas that are served by different ICG switches requires a minimum purchase of one Fully Configured Digital Trunk and EOS IntraLATA Transport per switch serving area.
