Overview / Voice Pipe / T1-Pri / I Convergance / Digital Trunks

VoicePipe™ is a managed, converged voice and Internet solution for small to medium sized enterprises that have single or multiple locations. VoicePipe falls into the industry niche referred to as IP Centrex, or Hosted PBX.

VoicePipe provides powerful features and capabilities that transform business communications beyond what traditional voice and data networks can offer. With VoicePipe, your customers get advanced features, including the ability to manage calls through a Web portal, FindMe/Follow Me, Remote User, have voice mail sent to email, or use selective forwarding.

Businesses typically need to purchase or lease expensive PBX equipment to gain advanced calling features such as voicemail, automated attendants, extension dialing, call forwarding, call park, or call transfer. Additionally, customers are often forced to obtain service from multiple carriers for local and long distance calling, PBX tie-lines and Internet access. Using ICG's nationwide voice and data network, VoicePipe provides Internet access, local and long distance calling, and eliminates separate PBX tie-lines as well as the need for a large capital investment by the customer.

Voice and Internet services are delivered over the same local loop access circuit using the Internet Protocol (IP). Phone calls are delivered using Voice over IP between ICG and the customer premise while being managed and controlled from ICG POP facilities. Phone calls do not travel over the public Internet, but are converted and transmitted over the traditional telephone network within the ICG POP. Internet traffic is routed over ICG's high-speed data network to its destination on the Internet, either within the ICG Network or through ICG's many public and private peering points to other networks.
